This program is designed to provide kids an opportunity to “Shop With A Cop” to provide their family with Christmas presents, they wouldn’t have been able to receive without the program. The Police Chiefs, Sheriff and other Law Enforcement Administrators of Green County, working with their Officers, the local School Districts, Wal-Mart and other organizations, bring a brighter Christmas to kids each year.

Parking
Alternate-side Winter parking begins November 15th of each year and ends March 31 of each year. This requires anyone parking a vehicle on a village street to park on the even side of the street on even days and on the odd side of the street on odd days, which is enforced between 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. This means you should park on the side of the street where houses have even numbers on the even days and vice versa. Note: Don’t forget that the enforcement begins at 1:00 a.m., so if you park your car before midnight, remember to park the vehicle on the correct side of the street bearing in mind that the date will change at midnight . Also, December 31st is followed by January 1st, and January 31st is followed by February 1st, which are both two odd days in a row, so park accordingly.
If you live on a street with No Parking on one side, the alternate-side winter parking does not apply to that area. There are also areas in the village that are exempt from the winter parking ordinance, so if you have any questions, contact the New Glarus Police Department at 527-2145.
If you have a vehicle that cannot be moved in accordance with the ordinances, please contact the Police Department with your request the night before your vehicle would be subject to enforcement action. Please do not wait until you receive a parking citation.
There are also restrictions on the parking of vehicles with a weight in excess of 12,000 pounds, length over 19 feet or height more than 8 feet from the roadway, including trailers, boat or snowmobile trailers, busses, campers, farm implements, or recreation vehicles.
