Please contact the utility office at (608) 527-2913 or via email ngutilities@newglarusvillage.com to start service with New Glarus Utilities or to change your service.

Starting November 1, 2008, the utility will require new customers to complete a service application prior to supplying service.  New customers must also provide some sort of photo identification.  New customers who do not provide proper information will be disconnected.

Residential Bill Assistance Programs

Energy plays a vital role in our lives, but unfortunately, not everyone can afford to pay for it.  As temperatures start to drop, we encourage our income-qualified customers to apply for energy assistance.

Residential Energy Assistance

This program is designed to ease the immediate energy burden facing our customers with limited financial resources.  Energy Assistance is a one-time bill credit each heating season (i.e., October 1st through May 15th).   Eligible customers will receive a letter from Green County indicating that a credit has been applied directly to their electric utility account with New Glarus Utilities.

To qualify for energy assistance you must now have a gross household income at or below 60% of the state median income.

To apply for energy assistance contact Green County Human Services at (608) 328-9344.

Green County Human Services is located at N3152 Highway 81, Monroe, WI.

Office hours:  M, W-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; T 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Customers must reapply for energy assistance each year!  However, if you have previously applied in-person at Green County Human Services, you can reapply by simply completing their "Home Energy Plus Application," and mailing it to Green County.  Home Energy Plus Applications are available from Green County Human Services in Monroe.

Energy Assistance can not be used to pay for past utility bills.

Note:  Applications for energy assistance are only approved for credit from October 1st to May 15th of each year.

New Glarus Utilities' energy assistance program is in cooperation with the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP).  To learn more about WHEAP click here.

Residential Crisis Assistance

For this program, Green County Human Services provides additional bill payment assistance to customers experiencing personal crises due to job loss, illness, or other hardships.

To apply for crisis assistance contact Green County Human Services at (608) 328-9393.

Give the Gift of Utilities

You can give the gift of utilities to a friend, neighbor, or loved one by pre-paying a portion of their utility bill.  It is a thoughtful and practical gift for any occasion.

It so easy, just print and complete the Gift of Energy form.  Send the form to us along with your payment for the amount of your gift.

Budget Billing

New Glarus Utilities currently offers budget billing.  The budget-billing program allows you to “even out” your electric, water, sewer, and storm water costs over the course of a year through a fixed monthly payment.  Budget billing helps you to manage your budget by not experiencing high bill surprises in the months when you use the most electricity, water, and sewer.  Budget billing accounts are evaluated every 6 to 12 months so that adjustments can be made to lower or raise payments based on changes in utility costs, family size, lifestyle changes, etc.
